The journal Rivista di Psicoanalisi adopts an Ethical Code of publication based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and shared by all those involved in its publication.
Duties of Management and Editors
Decisions on Publication
The journal Rivista di Psicoanalisi adopts the system of scientific evaluation of articles submitted to it, known internationally as peer-reviewing. Each text is assigned for reading to three referees anonymously (blind peer-review). Responsible for the refereeing process are the Director, The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Secretary, in consultation with the Editorial Board. Referees are identified according to a criterion of competence and high qualification in the subject matter. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the final decision on the publication of proposed articles.
Fairness
Direction and Editorial Board evaluate articles proposed for publication on the basis of their content without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, or the political orientation of the authors.
Confidentiality and Data Retention
Direction and Editorial Board agree not to disclose information about proposed articles to any person other than the author, referees and the Editor. The Editorial Board maintains in a confidential database the results of the refereeing processes of papers, both accepted and not, for publication.
Conflict of interest and transparency
The Editorial Board undertakes not to use in its own work the contents of an article proposed for publication without the written consent of the author. The journal Rivista di Psicoanalisi subjects contributions submitted for publication by members of the Editorial Board and Editors to the same anonymous and objective evaluation procedure.
Quality
The Director and Editor-in-Chief periodically check the peer-review process in order to introduce possible improvements. Collaboration with a referee will be permanently terminated if the time and manner stipulated in the review process have not been met at one or more times.
Duties of referee
Contribution to editorial decision
Peer-review is a procedure that helps the Editorial Board make decisions about proposed articles and caǹ help the author improve his or her contribution.
Adherence to timeframe
A referee who does not feel adequate for the proposed task or who knows that he or she cannot do the reading in the required timeframe is required to notify the Editorial Secretary promptly.
Confidentiality
Any text, assigned for reading to referees anonymously must be considered confidential. Therefore, such texts should not be discussed with other people.
Objectivity
Peer-review must be conducted objectively. Any personal judgment about the author is inappropriate. Referees are required to adequately justify their judgments in extended form and using a standardized form provided to them by the Editor-in-Chief.
Conflict of interest and disclosure
Confidential information or guidance obtained during the peer-review process must be considered confidential and may not be used for personal purposes. In case the referee identifies authorship of the essay submitted for his or her evaluation and conflicts of interest exist due to previous collaborative relationships, he or she is required not to accept the evaluation. The same applies in case a competitive situation arises. If the referee requests changes to the text as a condition for its publication, and the Director deems them appropriate, he or she maỳ verify their adoption by the author – to the extent that the author decides̀ to accept them – before giving final approval for publication.
Duties of Authors
Accuracy in manuscript submission
Authors must accurately and clearly present their work and objectively discuss its significance. Submitting false or knowingly inaccurate claims constitutes ethically unsound and therefore unacceptable behavior.
Originality and plagiarism
Authors are required to submit unpublished and original contributions in their entirety for consideration for publication, making sure that they have cited all texts used.
Multiple, repetitive and/or competing publications
The author agrees not to publish articles describing the same research in more than one journal. Simultaneously submitting the same text to more than one journal constitutes unethical behavior.
Indication of sources
The author must always provide the correct indication of sources and contributions mentioned in the article.
Authorship of the work
The author submitting the text for evaluation must ensure that all those who made significant contributions to the conception, realization, and reworking of the text appear as co-authors, and have given their approval to the final version of the article and publication in the journal Rivista di Psicoanalisi. If other people have participated significantly, their contribution should be explicitly acknowledged.
Ethics regarding the participation of humans and animals
Papers involving research with humans or animals must contain a statement regarding the conduct of procedures in line with relevant major laws, and it must be clearly stated that informed consent has been obtained from participants. Confidentiality in the handling of personal data must be guaranteed, in full compliance with the Privacy Act.
Authors of articles that include clinical case reports are required to take all necessary measures to ensure that none of the persons being written about can be identified by third parties and to minimize the likelihood that the patient(s) will recognize themselves.
Conflict of Interest and Disclosure
In submitting their contribution to the journal Rivista di Psicoanalisi, authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest that may have affected the results achieved or the interpretations proposed. Authors must also indicate any sources of funding for the research and/or project through which the article was made possible.
Errors in published articles
When an author identifies a relevant error or inaccuracy in one of his or her articles, he or she is required to promptly inform the Editorial Office, providing all the necessary information to point out the necessary corrections.
